Participation in the Higher Education Vision Meeting Towards 2030
The "Higher Education Vision Meeting Towards 2030" was held at Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University on November 29, 2024, with the aim of shaping the future of higher education. The meeting, which was held with the participation of YÖK President Erol Özvar and academic leaders, addressed the issues of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, internationalization and sustainability.
Özvar stated that the number of university students will reach 380 million worldwide by 2030, and emphasized that quality assurance and international competitiveness in higher education should be increased. It was also stated that population changes, online education and artificial intelligence-supported teaching models will transform education.
At the meeting, suggestions were presented for adding digital skills courses to the curriculum, developing employment-sensitive programs, and increasing the global competitiveness of universities. Turkey's compliance with international accreditation processes in higher education and the goals of creating sustainable education models were among the important outcomes of the meeting.
THEQC Gazi University IAP Meeting Participation
Gazi University YÖKAK Institutional Accreditation Program Experience Sharing Meeting, held in Ankara on December 5, 2024, aimed to share the experiences of higher education institutions in Turkey in the accreditation processes. Gazi University Rector Uğur Ünal and YÖKAK President Ümit Kocabıçak, as well as important figures from the academic community, attended the meeting.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that the number of universities in Turkey has reached 208, but qualitative development is still a priority goal. Topics such as increasing the potential of international students, data management, digitalization of quality processes and strengthening leadership approaches were discussed. It was also stated that 24 universities in Turkey have full accreditation, 49 universities have conditional accreditation and 99 universities have not yet gone through the accreditation process.
While it was emphasized that quality assurance systems should be developed in universities, it was stated that accreditation is not only a certificate but also a process of ensuring sustainable quality in education. The meeting was evaluated as an important step for the dissemination of quality standards in higher education.
